Single-vehicle wreck happened on SC 72

A Chester County man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 72 in Union County yesterday. According to Master Trooper James Miller with the SC Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 3:07 p.m. on Highway 72 near Delta Road, around 5 miles east of Carlisle. The man was driving a 2006 Saturn Ion west on Highway 72 when he drove off the right side of the road, lost control, and then traveled off the left side of the road, striking a tree.

The Union County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Barion Lee Sanders of Chester. They did not give his age. An autopsy is scheduled at Newberry Pathology Group.
