Daniel Prince

Bailey has been teaching for 37 years, including five at Foster Park

Foster Park Elementary School named Susan Bailey its October Teacher of the Month. Bailey is currently in her 37th year of teaching and her 5th year at FPES. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Bailey completed a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Converse College, and then she returned to the University of South Carolina, where she completed coursework for 30 hours above a Master’s Degree. She is one of only two teachers from Foster Park to serve on the Superintendent’s Leadership Team. Bailey is an active member of Kappa Delta Epsilon, International Reading Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Bailey’s co-workers describe her in the following ways:
“She just does a fantastic job with her students. She is always so kind and patient with them.”
“Mrs. Bailey treats every student like they are her own children. She works tirelessly trying to reach every single student.”
“We all know Mrs. Bailey for how loved she is among students. We also can’t ignore how much love she shows the other teachers and staff of FPES. We are a friendlier place because of her!”

When asked her favorite thing about teaching, Bailey said, “The excitement a student has when he or she learns something new. It is an honor to teach with Union County Schools and work with the great faculty, staff, and students that I have had the privilege of growing with over the years.”

Other than teaching, Bailey loves antique shopping and spending time on the lake. She and her husband, Tony, have been married for 38 years. They have a beautiful Llewellin Setter named Jessie. Their family attends Union Presbyterian Church.
