Store may open as soon as April
Signs have gone up at the site of the former Western Auto building in the Union Square Shopping Center announcing a new business coming soon. Harbor Freight will be locating in the building at 719 North Duncan Bypass, which most recently housed the discount store Label Shopper. They are already hiring for positions at the new store. You can apply online at jobs.harborfreight.com. They have six listings so far for positions in Union. They are part-time retail stocking associate, part-time retail sales associate, full-time retail stocking supervisor, full-time retail sales supervisor, full-time retail stocking manager, and full-time retail sales manager. Anticipated starting pay for the associate positions is $15 an hour. The supervisor positions will be $17.50 an hour, and manager positions will be between $24 and $26.40 an hour.
Union’s is one of four Harbor Freight stores that will be coming soon, with others in Orangeburg, Summerville, and York. Walterboro recently opened their new store. Officials expect Harbor Freight to open the Union store sometime in April.
Back in January, WBCU News confirmed with company officials that Harbor Freight was actively looking at opening a location in Union.
