Merrill to present "An Artifactual Journey Across Black South Carolina" program
Rose Hill Plantation State Historic Site and the Union County Library System have partnered all this month for the Black History Month series, A Seat at the Table. The final event of the series is this Saturday at 11 a.m. at the library. Titled “An Artifactual Journey Across Black South Carolina: From Slavery to Civil Rights”, it features Philip J. Merrill. Merrill is a well-known historian, writer, TV personality, podcaster, and collector. He will be bringing some of the interesting and important African American artifacts from his company’s collection. In 1994, Merrill founded Nanny Jack & Co., an archives and consulting agency specializing in creating projects that illuminate the African American experience through Black Americana, oral history, and research. He has written three books and edited another. You are invited to bring your questions and attend this free event.
