Robin Foster to present a genealogical program

Rose Hill Plantation State Historic Site and the Union County Library System are once again teaming up to present the “A Seat at the Table” series during the month of February. Three events are scheduled on Saturdays at 11 a.m. at the library. The first is on genealogy. Researcher Robin R. Foster will present a program titled, “My Best Genealogy Tips: Finding Formerly Enslaved Ancestors” on Saturday, February 4, from 11-noon at the library. Foster will discuss how to use oral history and specific online and offline resources to look for your roots. Discover ancestors who were enslaved or free before 1865, or research the Reconstruction and Jim Crow eras to learn about freed people in your family tree.

Foster has been researching and helping people discover and share information about their ancestors since 1985. She was a FamilySearch Missionary from 2007-2014. She was among the first to use Pinterest for genealogy. Currently, she is the co-founder and owner of Genealogy Just Ask at www.genealogyjustask.com. She has also written a couple of books, which are available on Amazon. They are titled, "My Best Genealogy Tips: It’s Time to Start!" and "My Best Genealogy Tips: Finding Formerly Enslaved Ancestors".
