Board to vote on capital needs projects list, unencumbered time policies
The Union County Board of School Trustees will be meeting tonight at 7:30 in the multi-purpose room at the Union County Career and Technology Center on campus at Union County High School. As usual, they will have an executive session from 6:30-7:30, with personnel and contractual matters slated for discussion. At 7:30, they have someone who requested a spot on the agenda for public comment. Melissa Betsill will speak to the board regarding Union County Schools grading practices. Following that, board members will provide highlights from the Annual Convention, and Superintendent Joey Haney will give his updates. Mark Haney will present an update on the Capital Needs Projects for board approval. These were discussed at length at the board’s recent budget workshop, and if approved, some projects will begin as soon as spring break at the schools. New Finance Director Linda Griffin will present the monthly budget report. Personnel Director Jeff Stribble will present a couple of policies for first readings. The first is Policy GCLE and Administrative Rule GCLE-R, dealing with unencumbered time. The second is Policy GDC dealing with support staff leaves and absences. He will then present the personnel report for approval. The meeting will then adjourn. The public is invited to attend, and the meeting will be streamed on the Union County School District’s Facebook page.
