More than $3000 worth of items and money taken from units
In recent weeks, several storage units have been broken into. A woman stated that on-site management at Small’s Storage on West Hillcrest Avenue had notified her that her unit had been broken into. The incident occurred sometime between January 5 and February 9. When she went to check, she said her unit had been completely gone through, but the only thing she knew of that she was missing was two suitcases. According to the report, $2000 in money was taken.
Another unit at Small’s Storage was broken into between January 20 and February 8. A Union man said the lock was forcefully pried off and it was evident his unit had been rummaged through. The man said a Maaco coolant pressure testing kit, a quarter drive air ratchet, and a half drive impact gun were missing from the unit. The items were valued at $700.
Back on February 2, a Union man reported his unit had been broken into. He was missing a small drill press still in the box, a small welder still in the box, camcorder accessory cables, and a Sony Beta Max recorder. The items were valued at $545. The man said he had last checked his unit two weeks earlier, and he had come that day to check it because of an earlier break-in. He stated he had his unit double-locked and believed someone made entry through an adjoining unit by prying open a piece of plywood.
These cases have been turned over to investigations.
