USC Union Offices to Move During Renovation at Central and Main Buildings

Daniel Prince

Renovation work to continue through 2024

As a reminder, certain offices at USC Union are temporarily moving because of HVAC upgrades. USC Union’s continued growth has led to the need for upgrades to some of its buildings to keep up with that growth. The Whitener Central Building and Main Building will both undergo various upgrades starting this month and continuing through the end of 2024.

The offices of the campus dean, human resources, dean’s assistant, business department (budget, finance, travel, and student tuition accounts), operations/facilities, marketing, development, and athletics began moving to the First Baptist Church gym last week, and they will remain there until the project is complete.
The school has announced that the Whitener Central Building on East Academy Street will begin a much-needed HVAC capital project starting today. The bottom floor will still host classes and office space, but the second floor of the building will be unoccupied until completion, and those classrooms and offices will be relocated. During the construction period, no outside groups or organizations will be able to utilize any facilities at USC Union. They are contacting those who have reserved the Community Room and other spaces to allow them time to relocate.

The Whitener Building HVAC project is tentatively scheduled for six months. After that, the Main Building will undergo the same type of HVAC project, which will affect the entire building. More information on that will be published as the start time of that project draws closer.
