Veterans Lodge Makes Donations to Meals on Wheels, Sheriff's Office

Daniel Prince

$2500 total given to the agencies from money raised at events

In a special presentation yesterday, the Veterans Memorial Lodge presented checks last night to the Union County Sheriff’s Office and Union County Meals on Wheels. On hand to make the presentations were Post Commander John McKnight, Service Officer Wayne Porter, and Treasurer William Jolly. The group gave $1500 to Union County Meals on Wheels to aid in their operation. They gave $1000 to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, which will be used towards the purchase of vests for the officers. Both organizations were very appreciative of the gift. The money was raised through events such as the 5K races at Memorial Day and Veterans Day, the low country boil, and the recent New Year’s Eve Soiree at the lodge. Special thanks to Graham Williams with the Union County News for covering the event.
