Incident marks the 16th reported vehicle break-in this month
Another vehicle was broken into in the City of Union, marking the 16th such incident this month. The burglary was reported on Monday afternoon on Wedgewood Court. Officer Rusty Young spoke with the victims, who stated they received a call that someone had seen a white male on a bicycle with a chainsaw riding up Wedgewood Court from the area of the victim’s work truck. When the man arrived to check the truck, he saw that his hot poles were on the ground next to the fence. He said it looked like someone had pried and drilled the locks out of his bucket truck and got all his tree cutting equipment, such as tree climbers, belts, ropes, riggers, and chainsaw. The man looked around and noticed a battery had been taken from another piece of equipment. Young called Investigator Jerome Beatty to come help him at the scene. They went to the fence where the poles were laying and spoke with a man there who had been asleep in a tent. He had a chainsaw with him that he claimed was his. He said he didn’t know anything about the incident. The officers asked the victim when the last time he was at the address on Wedgewood Court, and he stated it had been a while. He said he would make officers a list of the missing tools. The investigation is continuing.
